Joseph M Guzman

Dr. Joseph Guzman serves as Associate Superintendent of Education for Assessments, Standards, Accountability and Research under Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction, Tom Horne. Joseph’s research on minority entrepreneurship “Acculturation and Latino-Owned Business Success” published by Purdue University Press. While serving as Director of the NAU Economic Policy institute, Joseph was recognized by the Coconino County Board of Supervisors and the Northern Arizona Council of Governments for contributing to government stability and planning during COVID. His policy research experience includes having served as an economist with the Center for Naval Analyses and the RAND Corporation.

During his time in the Senior Executive Service at the Department of Defense, Joseph was awarded Civilian Service Medals from the Air Force and Army in recognition of his contributions to the Department and from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for his work advancing the implementation of biometrics technologies. Joseph Guzman is a graduate of the University of Arizona, having completed Engineering and MBA degrees. He also holds a PhD in Business Administration and Master’s Degrees in Economics, Statistics and Business Research from Stanford University.
